Up The Wall
This is a score that I wrote to scenes from an independent film entitled “Up the Wall”. The film was originally about 22 minutes in length, but unfortunately due to various factors, it had to be shortened quite drastically. What remains is the score I wrote to some scenes taken from the original film.
The scene opens with the main character - a young woman - and she is in a hurry to get out the door in the morning. Unfortunately she has a small problem - she can’t find her keys! In a desperate effort to find them, she starts turning over pillows and clothes and then even her scrapbook and canvases in her art studio until, much to her great relief, she finds her keys wedged in the couch.
In the next scene, the young woman’s elderly neighbour, who likes to wear her shoes in the house, first sits down to a cup of tea while tapping her foot to her favourite music, and then decides it’s time to polish her wood floors. The resulting noise becomes rather unbearable one floor below.

One Big Banana
This delightful piece is set in the jungle, with the characters being a little monkey and a very large ape, who at the end of the piece, become friends. In keeping with this scenario, I created music which I thought best complimented the style and character of this piece. I also supplied the voice-over bits for the little monkey.
The person who created this piece, Satomi Maekawa, had gone back to Japan after completing her studies in animation and has been working for Nintendo since. You can see some of her work here:

End Game
This is a sci-fi piece in genre, with the action being a series of fight-and-chase scenes between the two super-robots. I would say that the particular stylistic look of the robots are what inspired the soundtrack I wrote for this one; I wanted it to sound hard and metallic in nature, while complimenting the action going on between the two.

Frontier Justice
The cowboy and western style of this fun piece defnitely influenced the instrumentation as well as the style of music I employed throughout. I also supplied the voice-overs for the characters in the piece.

Mr. Bones
This was just a really cute piece and I felt that to best capture and bring that out, the music would have to be in a cartoonish vein, borrowing a little from the typical stylistic characteristics for that genre - in this case, something fun and light-hearted, right to the end of the credits sequence.

Nanocore
In this sci-fi piece, the action takes place on a space station. There are various action sequences and several different characters involved. Once again the overall style, look and subject matter of the piece largely dictates the nature of the score, With this in mind, I created music to highlight and support those elements as well as those of storyline and characters.
